SAN FRANCISCO – No. 3-seeded City College of San Francisco posted its fifth straight shutout while five different Rams scored in a 5-0 Northern California Regional Playoffs second-round win over No. 19 Reedley College on Saturday.
CCSF is headed to Round 3 and will host No. 6 Cosumnes River College on Tuesday (Nov. 25) at 2 p.m.
The Rams overwhelmed Reedley on Saturday, outshooting the Tigers by a 13-3 margin. CCSF got first-half goals from Sydney Grundland Lanuza (12th minute), Anahi Gomez (15th), and Luz Hernandez (18th). Chemnui Simpson (56th) and Azariya Smith (64th) closed out the Rams' victory scoring in the second half.
Bailey Perales tallied 3 saves for CCSF's 12th shutout of the season. The Rams ran their unbeaten streak to 16 games and improved to 16-2-2 overall.
Cosumnes River was a 5-0 winner over No. 22 Los Medanos on Saturday in its second-round game. CRC brings a 12-4-7 record into Wednesday's contest.
CCSF and Cosumnes River will be meeting for the second time this season. On Sep. 16, the two squads battled to a 1-1 draw in San Francisco. Wednesday's winner will advance to a regional final on Nov. 29.
Two more wins are needed for the Rams to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 5 & 7 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.
