Mario Gomez is in his 17th year working in college basketball and currently serves as the Assistant Coach/Director of Basketball Operations at City College of San Francisco (CCSF). During his time at CCSF, he has played a key role in the program’s success, contributing to four California Junior College State Championships, including the undefeated 2019–2020 team, which was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt.

In his current role, Mario is responsible for coordinating film exchange and film preparation for opponent scouting, as well as managing the team’s social media presence on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. He also serves as the Director of three major events: the CCSF Tip-Off Classic, the Golden Gate Classic, and the annual NorCal Jamboree, a premier preseason event that draws four-year college coaches from across the country.

A native of Alamo, California, Mario is a graduate of San Ramon Valley High School, where he played football. He began his career in basketball as a student manager at CCSF, eventually earning a scholarship to Texas Tech University to serve as a student manager under Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight, working closely with current Ole Miss Head Coach Chris Beard.

Before returning to CCSF, Mario spent a season at the University of San Francisco as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations for the women’s basketball program.

Mario holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration from San Francisco State University and a Master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Arkansas.
