Rams surge to third straight win, take Bay 6 opener 48-6 at San Jose

SAN JOSE – City College of San Francisco posted a season-high 589 total yards of offense on its way to a 48-6 rout at San Jose City College in both teams' National Bay 6 League opener.

The Rams have won four of its last five games, including three straight, to improve to 4-2 overall this season.

CCSF also set a new season-high with 436 passing yards, led by quarterback Darius Clark-James. The freshman from Houston was efficient as he completed 21 of 28 passes for 328 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Clark-James connected with Jeremiah Nash for both TDs. He tossed a 33-yarder to Nash in the second and closed his afternoon with a 12-yard strike to him to open the fourth quarter and give the Rams a commanding 35-0 lead.

Nash had a huge game, hauling in six receptions for 165 yards and the two TDs. It marked his third 100+ yard receiving game of the season.

Fox Hogan finished the game under center and was 4 for 7 for 90 yards, including a 32-yard TD pass to Tyler Cross midway in the fourth.

The Rams were also effective with the run, gaining 162 yards on the ground. Michael Dabney led with 11 carries for 53 yards. He had one of three rushing touchdowns in the contest for CCSF. Dabney's eight-yard TD run at the 5:32 mark in the first opened the scoring for the Rams.

JT Foreman broke through for a one-yard TD in the second while Donte Johnson also ran in from a yard out to put an exclamation point on the win in the fourth.

The Rams' defense played one of its best games of the season and held San Jose (1-5, 0-1 Bay 6) to 196 total yards. CCSF totaled five sacks, had four interceptions, and broke through for 11 tackles for a loss.

Sonny Vitale had the big play on D, returning an interception 55 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to help set the tone early. Kalique Cheeves had two interceptions while Kadin Roberts also picked off a pass.

The Rams will look to keep the momentum going next Saturday (Oct. 18) when they host Laney College in a 1 p.m. Bay 6 League game.
